Here at Katimavik our plan is to post one photo a day for a full year to give you a visual understanding of the reality of the Katimavik program in our part of the country. We have over 100 projects in Canada and each one of them has a unique context and quality that we want to capture in these photographs. Please join us on this photo journey and we hope it paints a picture of the amazing experience that this program provides for Canadian youth.

Katimavik est un programme national de service volontaire pour les jeunes qui est actif au Canada depuis 1977. Il permet à des jeunes de 17 à 21 ans de vivre une expérience de volontariat d’une durée de 6 à 9 mois dans différentes régions du pays. Les jeunes, qui apportent leur soutien à des projets communautaires et à des organismes sans but lucratif, développent ce faisant des compétences diverses, relèvent des défis sur le plan personnel et professionnel et promeuvent l’engagement social. De plus, Katimavik procure une expérience diversifiée qui permet à la jeunesse de mieux comprendre la réalité canadienne.

A Katimavik volunteer helping to wash dishes after the radio marathon and food giveaway with a local school radio station. All of the volunteers from this project contributed in one way or another. From greeting people at the doors to washing dishes after the food was eaten, everyone was engaged and participating.

Une volontaire de Katimavik lave la vaisselle après avoir participé au radiothon visant à amasser des denrées alimentaires; une initiative lancée en collaboraion avec une radio étudiante locale. Tous les volontaires de ce projet ont contribué d'une manière ou d'une autre. Tout le monde s'est impliqué!
