One of the themes present in the Katimavik program is adopting an open attitude towards diversity of the social and multicultural realities though exploring the different cultures present in the Canadian landscape. Through field work, volunteer work, meeting local people, and participating in events and working with members of the community on a joint project, the participants are immersed in the sociological, anthropological and artistic culture of that region. Here in the Atlantic, we have projects in Acadian communities such as in Bouctouche, New Brunswick as well as a northern project in Rigolet, Labrador, all of which are rich in history and tradition.

L’un des thèmes du programme Katimavik consiste à adopter une attitude d’ouverture envers la diversité des réalités sociales et le multicuturalisme par la découverte des différentes cultures qui façonnent la mosaïque humaine du Canada. Par le travail sur le terrain, le service volontaire, le fait de côtoyer les gens du milieu, la participation aux événements et les projets de collaboration avec les membres de la communauté, les participants plongent dans l’univers sociologique, anthropologique et artistique de la région. Ici dans l’Atlantique, nous menons des projets dans des communautés acadiennes, telles que dans la ville de Bouctouche, au Nouveau-Brunswick, de même qu’un projet dans le village de Rigolet, au Labrador, des lieux riches de tradition et d’histoire.
